Beyond Children's Mental Health Week

Beyond Children's Mental Health Week

Children's Mental Health Week may have passed, but the conversations it encourages each year don’t stop there. Across our Trust family of primary and secondary schools, supporting mental health is a key part of the everyday rhythm of school life.

Staff and students are encouraged to notice the small things that help people feel seen and supported. That looks different in each of our Xavier schools, but it’s rooted in the same Catholic belief: every person deserves care, dignity, and space to flourish.

A few examples:

  • Wellbeing ambassador programmes focused on compassion and community, where students look out for one another and help build a culture of kindness.
  • Drama & Wellbeing workshops that use drama to empower children to feel confident in recognising, sharing and expressing their feelings. Led by a professional actor-facilitator, the children work together to explore emotions and coping strategies, whilst reflecting on their learning.
  • Shared story and crafting times that help pupils across year groups slow down, connect, and explore feelings through books, creative expression and discussion.
  • Prayer stations at break times, offering quiet moments for reflection, from making prayer beads and weaving friendship bracelets, to building Lego prayer walls, walking finger labyrinths, or praying in colour.
